Rouleur Derby Report No. 78

In this Rouleur Derby Report:

1. Tour de France wrap-up

This year's Tour de France was rather short on surprises, and Rouleur Derby was no different. The only blockbuster payout came from the super-combative contest, won by Christophe Riblon of AG2R, which was a 45/1 shot. Other long shots came courtesy of Nairo Quintana, who was only 12/1 to podium, and who delivered a 7/1 payout for "Other" in the "Who willl finish 2nd?" proposition.

When the dust settled, it was longtime Rouler Derby superfan and Internet gadfly Super Rookie of Gainesville, Fla., taking home the win with a profit of 1,307 points on 964 points waged, the bulk of that coming compliments of AG2R and Quintana. For his troubles, Super Rookie earns $75, thanks to the sponsorship of SRAM, a cycling T-shirt from HornyforHorner, and a gift pack from BALM Co., your source for information on cycling embrocation, chamois creme and other products.

Of course, all this is pending dope control. Per usual, Super Rookie showed elevated dopiness during the Tour. Stay tuned.

In the overall, Bicyclebrian had a quiet Tour and now has a 400-point lead over Shootthegap, who enjoyed a net gain of 1,400 points over the past three weeks.

Now Rouleur Derby goes into a brief slumber, but we'll have action for the Tour of Utah in August, followed by the Vuelta a Espana and of course the season-ending world championships in Italy in September.

Have fun, play well, tell a friend,
