Rouleur Derby Report No. 75

Monday, May 27, 2013

In this Rouleur Derby Report:

1. Tour of California wrap-up

2. Giro wrap-up

3. Up next

At 17/10 odds it was no surprise that Tejay van Garderen won this year's Tour of California, but the domestic teams put on a good show along the way. The best show of all, however, came from Rouleur Derby patron HornyforHorner. In past years he's delighted us with Dirk Hofman-style signs for Rouleur Derby along the side of the road, but this year he outdid himself by chalking the route to encourage his pick. You have to check it out: https://twitter.com/rouleurderby/status/338993684781617152/photo/1. Thanks, Horny!

Miserable weather fouled the Giro the entire three weeks, but BicycleBrian of St. Louis got through it with a sunny disposition. That's because he went heavy -- 750 points heavy -- on Vincenzo at 5/2 odds. That combined with picking Rigoberto Uran to podium (17/2) left him with a 157% return on his investment, blowing away the competition and earning himself $50 for his troubles. Nice work, Brian!

There may be some Dauphine action but otherwise we now patiently wait for the Tour de France. Some early propositions are up -- Will Froome win? Will Contador win? Will a horse cause a crash? -- but the bulk of the action will be available once start lists are published. See you then!

Have fun, play well, tell a friend,
