Sometimes you have the pleasure of going to Belgium. Sometimes you have the pleasure of Belgium coming to you.

So it will be this weekend when the kings and queens of cyclocross visit Louisville, Ky., to contest the 2013 cyclocross world championships.

Rouleur Derby will be there in person, although the art department has not yet delivered appropriate signage with which to photobomb the proceedings, ala Dirk Hoffman.

For the men's race, the Belgians are, per usual, the overwhelming favorites, with defending champion Niels Abert leading at 5/2 odds. Lars van der Haar is the first non-Belgian at 8/1, and Jeremy Powers is enjoying some home-nation bias with 30/1. But maybe the mud will do suit him well.

Meanwhile, it's a dead heat for the women between Marianne Vos and Katie Compton at 11/10. The next contender is Katerina Nash at 45/1.

The calendar is a little bare for the next few weeks, but count on Rouleur Derby to follow the action back to Belgium when the classics season officially begins with Omloop Het Niewsblad on Feb. 23.

Have fun, play well, tell a friend,
