1. PARIS-NICE AND TIRRENO-ADRIATICO

It's been awfully hard getting to work on time this week with not one but two stage races vying for my affections each morning. (If you're not following already, www.cyclingfans.com and www.steephill.tv are excellent tools for finding live streaming video of the races.)

In France, Contador asserted himself yesterday with an attack on the day's final climb, gaining dozens of seconds over everyone. He's now looking good for the win, not to mention beating Leipheimer.

In Italy, Boonen and Gerdemann have each won a stage and are locked up at the top of the GC. Cavendish, meanwhile, has had difficulty staying on terms with the peloton, finishing both stages minutes in arrears. My sympathies to anyone who had him winning three or more stages (8.1:1).

Paris-Nice concludes Sunday, and Tirreno-Adriatico runs through Tuesday.

2. MILAN SAN REMO

The next big one-day race is Milan San Remo on March 20. I'll list as many contenders as I can to limit the odds on "Other" this time.

I'll also have an array of head-to-head match-ups. Thor vs. Thom? Farrar vs. Cav? Any other suggestions?

3. INTRODUCING: BONUSES!

It occurred to me that one flaw of Rouleur Derby is that there's as much to be gained or lost with a big race like the Tour de France or a major classic as there is with minor races or with, say, a silly side bet over how many times George Hincapie will flat at Paris-Roubaix.

So, for the monuments, grand tours and world championships, I'm going to introduce a bonus multiplier for picking the winner. I haven't decided on a value yet -- I have to run it past my team of actuaries -- but it will be somewhere between 1.25 and 2.0. Thus, if you pick a winner at 10:1 and the multiplier is 1.25, you will win 12.5 points for every point you bet.

The bonus multiplier will not be awarded in the event that "Other" wins.

Hopefully this bonus will encourage more action in these big races as well as reward your expertise.

That's it for this week.

Play well, have fun, tell a friend,

Luke
