Rouleur Derby Report No. 43

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

In this Rouleur Derby Report:

1. Vuelta second chance

2. Season wrapping up

3. Something silly

The Vuelta a España got a lot more interesting after Monday's time trial, which surprisingly had Christopher Froome sweeping into the red jersey. Six riders now sit within a minute of the lead, and of the top 10, only four of them appeared in the official Rouleur Derby morning line 10 days ago.

This being the first of two rest days, we have a a "second chance" to claw back some of those points we put on Igor Anton. With 16 hours to go, Vincenzo Nibali and Bradley Wiggins are the heavy favorites at 3.2-1 and 3.7-1, respectively.

Be sure to check your profiles to make sure you're eligible for the Vuelta a España prize, which is reserved for players who have made at least 15 bets and wagered 400 points during the Vuelta.

Also keep in mind that to be eligible for the overall prize of $50, players must have made at least 20 bets and risked 500 points.

It's been another fun, successful season of Rouleur Derby, but we'll wrap things up with the world championships on Sept. 15. Once start lists are available there will be several fun propositions. In the meantime, consider making an early prediction by country:

If you work in media or design, you've at some point looked at a design filled with "Lorem ipsum" dummy copy. And you've probably thought to yourself, "Wouldn't it be great if this incomprehensible gibberish were incomprehensible gibberish about cycling?"

And so I give you Velo Ipsum: Random incomprehensible gibberish about cycling. (Not to be confused with Bob Roll.)

Have fun, play well, tell a friend,
