Rouleur Derby Report No. 24

Thursday, October 14, 2010

In this Rouleur Derby Report:

1. Giro di Lombardia

2. Silly season

Ring! Ring! Ring! One to go! One to go! One! To! Go!

That's right, friends, we're on the bell lap here at Rouleur Derby. After a strong showing at worlds, RIOTminneapolis is off the front with a commanding lead, but with one race to go and three propositions on the table, it's not too late for anyone to chase him down and reshuffle the podium.

And that final race is none other than Saturday's Giro di Lombardia, our final monument. As such, it carries a 25 percent bonus for picking the winner. The Rouleur Derby crystal ball has Pozzatto, Evans and Gilbert as the favorites, but who knows how well they've carried their form since worlds. Beyond them, it's anyone's game. This race is wide open.

Italians win two out of every three Giros di Lombardia, so we have a proposition on that:

And how well will Thor live up to his new rainbow stripes?

Betting closes at midnight Friday. Don't forget! (I'm looking at you, CLyda.)

And with Saturday, the inaugural season of Rouleur Derby draws to a close. Thanks so much for playing along. I hope you had as much fun as I did.

I'm unsure whether Rouleur Derby will be back for 2011. It never quite took off like I'd hoped, so I'd like to spend some time meditating on why that was so. To that end, I hope to send out a little survey next week to get some feedback and learn what changes I should make over the off-season so we can hit that tipping point.

Have fun, play well, tell a friend,
